Telling Everyone Else

I went and showed my grandma our video today and gave her a sono picture. It took her a minute to get the video but she was surprised. So without further ado here is how we are telling the rest of my family and friends....

Week 11- For Real

Baby B's first sono straightened me out on the whole counting by weeks thing. So my 11 weeks was really yesterday. (It goes by the end of the week not the start of the week) I'm to lazy to change all the other photos so there will be two week 11s but from here on we should be good. :)

Telling the Folks

This is how we told my mom and dad....

We met them at Famous Dave's at the Legends for dinner on Friday. After we were seated at our table we gave them their bag o' goodies. I'd say they were pretty surprised. It took them a second to get the shirts. I brought my camera but in the excitement forgot to get it out and take any photos. After dinner, we went to Mom and Dad's and Skyped with Nate in Australia and Tiffany in Houston. Webcams rock. We showed them the sonogram photo to let them figure it out. It was way better than just telling them over the phone.

Saturday we drove over to Willie's Mom's house to tell her and Willie's sisters. This is how we told them...

We also gave her a framed photo of the sonogram pic. Willie had to make sure his mom and Marcia understood that it is an image of Jake and Lola on the shirts since she is already a grandma. We then Skyped with Willie's sister Crystal in Tuscon. They all seemed pretty excited.

Later that day we took Willie's dad a sono photo and told him.

Sunday we Skyped with my Grandpa. We made him a shirt too. Sorry no picture of it right now. It says "Great Grandpa" on the front and "I'm kind of a big deal" on the back. He also seemed excited. This is his first great-grandkid.

Tomorrow we are headed to tell my Grandma. Should be fun for her to find out! Her first great-grandchild as well. 

In other news I did my 3 hour blood glucose test on Friday. (I failed the 1 hour test) Boy was it boring. I took my book and got some good reading in, but their lobby chairs are really not comfortable. And I was hungry (you have to fast) and don't really like getting blood drawn, especially not four different times. Yikes. Good news is that I passed. I drank orange juice before the first test and the lab tech said that could have done it. Maybe they should tell you that and save some pain. Good news is all the ice cream and cake I can eat, no sugar free for me!

Hey Baby

We saw the coolest thing ever today. Our baby! Willie and I went for our ultrasound appointment. Instead of going into detail we'll just say early ultrasounds are awkward. We had to go early so I could have my glucose tested (I got a big fat F on it too). The glucose drink is this orange watered down popsicle tasting stuff. I didn't think it was that bad, but the lady said some people can't keep it down so I'll consider myself lucky. We had an hour to wait before the lab tech could make like a Cullen and collect some blood and for our ultrasound appointment. The ultrasound lady was awesome enough to take us back early and this is what we saw....

Baby Beecham is technically 10 weeks and 2 days, but was measuring 11 weeks 2 days. So our due date is either January 10 or January 3. The ultrasound gal said it would be up to our doctor to either keep the 10 or switch it to the 3. We also heard the heartbeat. That was pretty cool. She said it was nice and strong.  Now it's time to spill the beans. ;)

Dr. Day

After 10 long weeks of waiting....... (insert drumroll here) WE FINALLY SAW THE DOCTOR! Super Hubby came with me. So supportive. I think he's excited to be a part of things and doesn't want to miss anything. Our doctor seems really nice, I had met her once before. She's young but sometimes I think that could be a good thing. Still got spunk and excited about delivering little bambinos.  She checked me out and said things look good. She doesn't check for a heartbeat at the first appointment so that was a little sad. She said it's hard to hear at this point so it's probably easier not to freak a mom out. You know, "What? I listened to Kanye once and now my baby's HEARTLESS". (bad joke I know) 

The appointment was fairly painless, literally, the only pain was when they drew my blood. My veins seem to be allergic to needles as it usually takes some persuasion to get the need in. Maybe I'll try a pep talk next time, to pump them up. :) While there, we scheduled our first ultrasound for next Wednesday morning. We are stoked! After we get the pics of the little one we will be shouting "we're PREGGERS" from the rooftops. We thought about telling this weekend, but decided to wait one more week so we can show off Baby B. I guess I feel like I need visual proof. We didn't figure people would be able to keep our secret for us.

Of course I had a ton of questions to ask and forgot all of them. So I'm writing them down for next time. We see Dr. M. again on July 8. When I go back I have to go early for a glucose tolerance test. Yippy Skippy for me.
